Idaho Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (IdahoRID) was founded in 1973 when four people went against the adive of others that Idaho was too small for its own affiliate chapter and should join another state. The organizational meeting that started IdahoRID was held at ISDB in April of 1973 by Jim Palmer and Mr. Paul Colton, president of Southern California's chapter. Sixty-one people were in attendance. By that October, National RID granted incorporation status to Idaho RID. The first bylaws were signed into action by Jim Palmer, Marcie Platt, Lelia Stutzman, Jack Downey, and Dorothy Smith. For over 50 years our membership has voluntairly run this chapter, organized local events & workshops, and provided resources & support. IdahoRID created a space for interpreters to connect with other interpreters, learn from other professionals, and build relationships. This is our community. |
Award recipients are chosen by community members. If you know of someone deserving recognition, please email info@idahorid.org.
